Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: ***@debian.org, ***@debian.org, debian-***@lists.debian.org

The current maintainers of the s390-tools package have indicated that
they are no longer interested in maintaining it. I'm thus recording the
package as orphaned.

If I misunderstood the situation, please just close the bug.

Hi,
I am employed with IBM as a Debian maintainer for the S390x. I would like to assume responsibility for this bundle. I previously replied to the bug below about updating it due to OpenSSL errors.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1080317
Please let us know if there is a way to get the status of Debian developers. I have addressed the issues listed below and am currently working on bugs related to S390 tools and other things.
Thanks for your interest in contributing to Debian.
I've CC:ed the debian-s390 mailing list, where hopefully you'll find
like-minded people.

To become a Debian developer, please read https://www.debian.org/devel/join/

In the meantime, the best thing to do is to get the s390-tools
package into a better shape. You can upload your changes to
https://mentors.debian.net and ask for sponsorship. I would strongly
recommend importing the s390-tools package into git, to be hosted on
salsa.debian.org.

Please also read https://mentors.debian.net/intro-maintainers/ for
an intro in starting package maintenance.

Best,
Chris
